In 2002 and 2004, simultaneously with Cubico and Libre appearance on the market,
Targa Italia realised miniature models of these two products and supplied the dealers with
them.
On a scale of one to ten said reproductions have colours, finishing and dimensional
modules recalling the original ones and this makes an effective projecting tool of them.
They evidence, even at a first glance, the compositional possibilities and characteristics of
the products and make designing much easier. In both cases these models have gone
beyond their initial intended use of working tool, turning into objects with their own
individualities.
The assembly kit, which contains single pieces of different colours and a scale drawing on
paper, clearly underlines the idea of a game suggested by Cubico and Libre projects. An
idea often recurring in the Design Field which, more or less manifestly, has moulded the job
of some designers (among the others Bruno Munari or Achille Castiglioni, just to quote two
“excellent examples”).
Therefore these “dynamic” reproductions are not just simple miniatures for collectors but
they allow, once everyone has conceived and completed his personal project, to keep
playing and eventually modifying the original project.
